This year saw a change of vineyard fruit. This wine now comes from a single vineyard that has a spectacular view looking out over the water to Philip Island. 2.5 acres planted in 1999 using MV6 on red, volcanic soil. It is sheltered by the ocean winds by an avocado grove at the bottom of the vineyard. A late ripening vineyard protected it from the devastatingly small crops caused by storms during the crucial flowering period. Handed picked and sorted. 20% whole bunch. 10% new oak. 10 days on skins. 10 months maturation. Unfined.
Distributor Notes
"Light garnet colour. Raspberries and orange rind with hints of spice on the nose are followed up with a savoury palate of dried herbs. Good acidity and fine, grippy tannins to finish."
Jane Eyre, Winemaker
