"There’s a bit of co-fermented cabernet franc in this shiraz, from a single harvest of the eight acre, dry grown Emily’s Paddock vineyard. Super-charged licorice, blue fruits and briar aromas. Wood comes through too – cedar, nougat, clove characters. There’s a subtle earthiness, wet earth, too. Sweet fruit through the core of the wine, wood meshed completely into the flow of firm, rigid fruit and the wine finishes with a building pucker. Ripeness here, but there’s also a coolness and trim that comes with the wine too. Savoury, earthiness defining the personality of the wine. Big personality, done well. More time will benefit the wine too." (Tasted February 2014)
