2022 Curly Flat Chardonnay

"This is quite slender, more slender than I usually associate with Curtly Flat, though it builds flesh and flavour as it breathes and it will no doubt continue to do so as it matures. It tastes of cedar and nectarine, grapefruit and green apple, custard powder and woodsmoke, with gentle herb-like notes littered throughout. The wine’s grapefruit notes really power on through the finish, which is a good sign, and everything feels well balanced and knitted. Tuck it away awhile and it’ll sing."

2022 Curly Flat Pinot Noir

"I tasted the three Curly Flat 2022 Pinot Noirs masked and for this one I wrote: The most complete of the three. Given that they’re all excellent quality, that may be all that you need to know.
I like the stringiness of this, the tension, the fruit, the length. It’s real pinot. It feels as though it’s desperate to rush forward but it holds itself back until it gets to the finish, where it runs. It has a minerally aspect, a sour ripeness, a thread of woodsmoke, a garni of herbs. It will cellar beautifully. It’s cool, ripe, savoury, seamless and long."
