"Penfolds Grange Shiraz (Hermitage) 1958 was made using a blend of 94 percent shiraz and 6 percent cabernet sauvignon. Grapes were grown in the Barossa Valley (Kalimna Vineyard), at Morphett Vale (Adelaide), and on the Magill Estate vineyard in Adelaide, and in McLaren Vale. It was a warm, mild vintage. This wine is known as Bin 46, 47 and 49.Sweet toffee, sweet leather, and then … then it turns, like a new perfume has just been sprayed on. It smells of lavender, aniseed, rosemary and all other kinds of fancies. It holds firm on the palate, but not so that the wine is restricted. The wine can play; yet the winemaker is watching. There is a juiciness here that is alarmingly attractive." - The Rewards of Patience, Penfolds
