""Penfolds Grange Shiraz 1989 was made using a blend of 91 percent shiraz and 9 percent cabernet sauvignon. Grapes for this vintage of Grange were grown in the Barossa Valley (Kalimna Vineyard and others) and McLaren Vale regions. It was a good summer until the finish, when it turned extremely hot β and then wet. Very sweet profile. Raisiny, aniseedy, confected. Drinking it is like sucking on licorice-allsorts β did Dave Powell visit Penfolds during this vintage? (that was a joke). Absolutely hedonistic, bitter on the finish maybe but soft and delicious through the palate β a complete crowd pleaser. I am one of the crowd. Itβs not a stylish Grange but it packs a sweet punch of flavour. 93 Points/Drink 2001-2018" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
