"1990 is a classic Penfolds vintage and the St Henri Shiraz from that year lives up to billing – but only just. This note is from the Rewards of Patience tastings – belatedly published. It’s big for a St Henri, sweet in its fruit profile, and makes a profound impact the instant it hits your tongue. But at this tasting I thought the wine lacked character – it’s well rounded and well made, but there’s something sterile about it. Maybe I was just having a moment. I enjoyed the flavours of leather, plums, chocolate, mint, and violets. The reach of tannin to all corners of the mouth is excellent too. Technically, it’s impeccable. 93 Points" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
